New Haven Ballet Hartford Theatre reviews
ZZ Top disappointment
An hour and twenty minutes was all it took for New Haven Ballet to perform. I am a huge fan of New Haven Ballet, going way back to 1984 when I first saw them. They still possess that enchanting quality, but their recent concert was a bit disappointing. They only played about seven songs, including hits like Leggs and Sharp Dressed Man, but the rest were forgettable. I was shocked that they wrapped up their set so quickly, leaving us wanting more. I could only get lawn tickets for 90 bucks each, as the seating sold out fast. Some seats were going for a whopping 400 bucks! I've never paid that much even for big-name acts like the Stones or David Byrne. The "second" encore featured Lagrange, Jailhouse Rock, and one more song. It would have been nice to hear classics like Cheap Sunglasses or Pearl Necklace instead of the lesser-known tunes. Overall, the event left me wishing for a longer setlist filled with their greatest hits. Jeff Beck's performance was a highlight, but I doubt I'll attend another New Haven Ballet concert. Despite the mixed feelings, I appreciate the memories.
